AIEA Internship Program 2026 – Applications Open for Washington, DC Annual Conference

The Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA) is now accepting applications for its Internship Program at the upcoming 2026 Annual Conference, scheduled for February 15–19, 2026, at the Marriott Marquis in Washington, DC.

This exciting opportunity is designed for graduate students and young professionals who are eager to gain hands-on experience in international education, develop professional skills, and connect with leaders from universities and organizations across the globe.



About the AIEA Annual Conference

The AIEA Annual Conference is one of the world’s leading gatherings of senior international education leaders, university administrators, and policymakers. Each year, the conference provides a platform to discuss global challenges, share strategies, and highlight innovations that are shaping the future of international education.

In 2026, the conference will once again offer an inspiring space for dialogue, networking, and professional growth.


Internship Overview

A total of four interns will be selected to form the core support team for the conference. Interns will work closely with AIEA staff and gain practical skills in:

  • Event management

  • Volunteer recruitment and coordination

  • Communication and outreach

  • Intercultural leadership

This role is a great fit for anyone considering careers in international education, global affairs, higher education administration, non-profit management, or leadership development.


Key Responsibilities

Volunteer Recruitment & Management

  • Recruit and train 40–50 local volunteers.

  • Assign roles, create schedules, and manage logistics.

  • Ensure volunteers are well-prepared for their on-site duties.

Event Logistics

  • Assist with registration desks and overall conference flow.

  • Escort high-level speakers, moderators, and VIP guests.

  • Provide daily operational support to ensure smooth execution.

Session Monitoring

  • Help oversee more than 100 conference sessions and workshops.

  • Manage on-site logistics to keep sessions running seamlessly.


Time Commitment

Pre-Conference (Nov 2025 – Feb 2026):

  • Join virtual planning meetings with AIEA staff.

  • Complete small tasks related to volunteer recruitment.

  • Prepare for on-site responsibilities.

On-Site (Feb 15–19, 2026):

  • Work on location at the Marriott Marquis, Washington, DC.

  • Be available daily from 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM (with breaks).
